MONROVIA – former Montserrado County District #8 Representative Moses A. Gray and a key figure within the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has launched a scathing attack on President Joseph Boakai’, accusing him of hypocrisy and mismanagement following the resignation of Mr. Amin Modad former Commerce Minister.
In a fiery letter posted on Facebook, the former representative criticized President Boakai’s response to Modad’s resignation, particularly the President’s condemnation of Modad’s decision to purchase a $96,000 vehicle, which Boakai had described as “poor judgment and a lack of sensitivity to the current economic environment in the country.”
The ex-lawmaker expressed disbelief at the President’s stance, stating, “Mr. President, your letter of acceptance to the resignation of Mr. Amin Modad is a dimming contradiction to yourself and a pure hypocrisy to the highest degree on your part.” He continued, “You described Mr. Modad’s action… as a reflection of poor judgment and a lack of sensitivity… However Mr. President, you are no different from such a description.”
The former representative Gray also accused the Liberian leader of authorizing the purchase of bulletproof vehicles for himself and Vice President Jeremiah Koung reportedly costing over $1 million, which was not part of the national budget. “You illegally ordered your EPS to take over $1 million outside of budget allocation to buy you and your Vice President two bulletproof vehicles,” the letter charged.
Quoting Senator Prince Johnson , the opposition figure highlighted what he views as the President’s disregard for the country’s economic situation: “Like Senator Prince Y. Johnson said in a recent text message that you are a very ‘wicked man,’ indeed you are the one who has demonstrated poor judgment and insensitivity to the plights of the poorest poor.”
The letter further condemned the President’s use of luxury vehicles for “special guests” instead of addressing pressing national issues such as the impact of drug abuse and recent floods. “Your Special Guests are now more important than the masses who stood in the rain to elect you,” he wrote, emphasizing that the President’s actions show a lack of concern for ordinary Liberians.
The representative did not hold back in his final remarks: “Mr. President, your judgment is evil and shows that you only care about yourself and not the people… Yes Mr. President, let me repeat that you are not just an evil man but you are very heartless and vindictive to the core.”
This explosive criticism comes at a time when Liberia is grappling with economic hardship and growing frustration among citizens over governance and transparency issues.
