Kakata_ MarGibi County: Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay and former House Speaker of the 53rd National Legislature has been facing a significant drop in political attention since he got sanctioned by the U.S Treasury Department of State for allegation of Corruption on December 11, 2023.

Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay formally served as Representative of electoral District #5 MarGibi County for twelve years. While serving as representative, he served as Chairman on the Committee Ways Means Finance and Budget and later served as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Prior to his sanctioned by the U.S Government, Senator Nuquay has earlier being admired and loved by most Citizens in MarGibi County for developmental and personal reasons, some of whom refer to him as Political godfather of the county.

According to sources, Senator Nuquay, during the 2014 Special Senatorial elections, brought to the people of MarGibi County Rev. Jim W. Tornolah and made him Senator. A clergy man who underperformed in the county and scored “F” most of his time during his stay at the House of Senate.

It’s also being established that Senator Nuquay served as a lead campaigner for the election of former MarGibi County Senator Oscar Cooper during 2011.

Unfortunately, during the 2023 Presidential and General Elections, Senator Nuquay Fielded both Representative and Senatorial Candidates in MarGibi County but lost all. A defeat, according to our Margibi County Correspondent, which is said to have been a huge loss of support and the first of its kind since his political life.

Senator Emmanuel Nuquay has been known to be a powerful politician in MarGibi County prior to his huge defeat during the 2023 elections and subsequent sanctions. The Senator also supported Ex-President Weah’s reelection bid and got fewer votes in MarGibi, a county Which he committed to turn over to the CDC during the 2023 Elections.

It can be recalled that on December 11, 2023, Pursuant to Section 7031(c), the United States publicly designated him, former Finance and Development Planning Minister Samuel D. Tweah Jr, and former Senate Protemp Albert Chie, for their involvement in significant corruption by abusing their public positions through soliciting, accepting, and offering bribes to manipulate legislative processes and public funding, including legislative reporting and mining sector activity.

The release also further as part of this action, their immediate family members were also designated, including their spouses Delecia Berry Tweah, Abigail Chie, and Ruthtoria Brown Nuquay, and Tweah and Nuquay’s minor children.

It has been observed that since Senator Nuquay was sanctioned by the U.S. Government, he has lost political weight and attention in MarGibi County, a situation that has caused a huge drop in his support base.

Senator Nuquay since been sanctioned has disappeared from the public space. The senator who formally attends programs frequently is now known for sending proxy on major programs in the County a situation that has caused more Citizens in the county wondering.
