Gbarnga: The Bong County Health Services Administrator, Sam Siakor, has outlined several achievements in the county’s health sector despite limited government support.

According to Mr. Siakor, funds allotted in the national budget for the County Health Team have not been disbursed in full.

He noted that although 100,000 was allotted in the 2025 budget year for the county health team, less than 50% of the amount has been paid.

Mr. Siakor attributed the situation partly to a reduction in foreign aid, particularly from the USAID.

The Ministry of Finance Support to the county has been very little, the USAID cut really affected us,” he said.

The Bong County Health Services Administrator called on the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning to expedite the payment of funds to the county health team to strengthen its capacity in delivering quality health care services to citizens.

Despite these challenges, the County Health Administrator highlighted several achievements.

Renovation works are ongoing at the Totota Health Center, while the completion of the Gbondoi, Baryata, Jorwah, and Jennepleta clinics is in progress. Belefanai Health Center has been upgraded to a modern facility,” Siakor noted.

In addition, Mr. Siakor revealed that about 400 healthcare volunteers have been placed on the government’s payroll through the County Health Team.

He made the disclosure Thursday in an interview with Radio Gbarnga.
