MONROVIA, June 12, 2025 – ArcelorMittal’s Acting CEO, Anthony P. Kocken, has revealed that ArcelorMittal Liberia will create significant economic opportunities under its Phase II expansion.
Speaking at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing, Kocken said the company’s operations will create over 5,000 jobs during construction and up to 3,000 permanent jobs when fully operational.
He added that national revenue from ArcelorMittal is projected to rise from $35 million to over $125 million annually—supporting education, infrastructure, and healthcare.
Kocken also disclosed that the company is increasing procurement from Liberian-owned businesses and investing directly in community projects, including upgraded clinics, roads, markets, and an expanded County Social Development Fund expected to reach $4 million annually.
