Speaking via mobile phone on BKS Radio in Buutuo, Senator Kogar described the incident which left several citizens injured as “a bad image” for the district. The clash occurred when the campaign convoy of independent candidate Bories B. Barlea encountered that of MDR candidate Kortor Kwagrue between Dimplay and Gbarlorplay Junction, near Gbanwea.
The senator urged both candidates to caution their supporters against fueling electoral violence, stressing that security forces must act impartially during the polls.
“No police or immigration officer has the right to interfere in this election. Any officer caught engaging in bias or intimidation should face immediate disciplinary action, including dismissal,” Kogar warned.
He further assured voters of police presence on election day to maintain order, encouraging citizens to peacefully exercise their democratic rights and report any harassment to the authorities.
Kogar also called on the media to maintain transparency and impartiality in their coverage, reminding journalists of their responsibility to provide balanced and accurate information to the public.
The senator concluded by appealing for calm, unity, and respect throughout the electoral process, saying, “Let’s all be peaceful and protect the image of our district.”
