Monrovia, Liberia – February 21, 2024:
Liberia has received a significant boost to its healthcare sector as 26 top medical professionals from the United States, Canada, Europe, etc, arrived in the country for the Liberia Medical Mission (LMM) 2025.
This transformative initiative, a Special Presidential Project, comes with over 500,000 United States Dollars worth of life-saving medicines set to be distributed across five counties, reinforcing President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s vision for a stronger, healthier Liberia.
At a special reception at the Tea House, Executive Mansion in Monrovia yesterday, President Boakai warmly acknowledged the mission’s extraordinary dedication to improving healthcare delivery in Liberia.

“This mission is a testament to the power of compassion and service. You have left the comfort of your homes to bring healing and hope to our people, and for that, Liberia is truly grateful.
My administration stands ready to support and expand this initiative so that more lives can be saved,” President Boakai emphasized.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to modernizing Liberia’s healthcare system, ensuring that medical professionals and health facilities receive the necessary support to improve service delivery nationwide.
Expanding Medical Care Across Five Counties
With an ambitious goal to reach thousands of Liberians in need, the Liberia Medical Mission will distribute over $500,000 worth of essential medicines to hospitals and clinics in Gbarpolu, Cape Mount, Bomi, Grand Bassa, and Montserrado counties.
The initiative will deliver critical healthcare services, including:
Cataract Surgeries at Emirates Hospital in Gbarpolu, offering restored vision to patients from Bomi, Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, and Montserrado Counties.
Mental Health Awareness & Training for healthcare workers, educators, and security agencies, focusing on trauma-informed care.
CPR & Emergency Training for 75 security personnel, enhancing life-saving emergency response capabilities.
Biomedical Equipment Repairs at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital and other key medical centers to improve healthcare service efficiency.
Specialized Urology Surgeries at JFK Memorial Hospital, performed by leading urologists from the mission team.
This initiative is under the supervision of the Minister of State Without Portfolio for Presidential Affairs, Minister Mamaka Bility.
The project is directly unfer the President’s Delivery Unit (PDU), and the Minister of State Without Portfolio, Mamaka Bility is spearheading this year’s Liberia Medical Mission.
Speaking at the occasion on Friday, February 21, 2025, Minister Bility highlighted the government’s unwavering support for this initiative, emphasizing its role in reshaping Liberia’s healthcare landscape.
“This mission embodies President Boakai’s vision for a reformed and strengthened healthcare sector. We are proud to host the Liberia Medical Mission once again, as they provide critical services that will touch countless lives,” she noted.
Most of the medical experts are Liberians who stayed outside of the country for decades and are now back to give back to their country- Liberia.
As the Liberia Medical Mission 2025 gets underway, President Boakai is calling on all Liberians to collaborate with the medical team to maximize its life-changing impact.
“This is a national effort, and every Liberian has a role to play in ensuring the success of this mission.
My administration remains resolute in advancing healthcare policies and mobilizing resources to build a resilient medical system,” President Boakai affirmed.
The Liberia Medical Mission 2025 is expected to offer free medical checkups, surgeries, and essential healthcare services at no cost to the government or private institutions.
