Greenville, Sinoe County – November 20, 2024The Sinoe County Health Team has launched a robust awareness campaign to educate residents about the ongoing Mass Drug Administration (MDA) and the prevention of Onchocerciasis (River Blindness) and Lymphatic Filariasis (commonly known as Elephantiasis or Big Foot). The event took place today in Greenville and featured both outdoor and indoor programs, engaging health workers, community members, and stakeholders across all health sectors in the county.
The initiative, spearheaded by the County Health Team, aims to address the prevalence of these diseases, which continue to pose significant public health challenges in rural Liberia. The MDA campaign emphasizes the distribution of preventive medication and the importance of community participation in combating these debilitating conditions.
During the outdoor program, health workers conducted live demonstrations on how the drugs are administered, ensuring the public understood the process and the benefits of participating in the campaign.
