Suakoko, Bong County: A severe storm has hit Bong County, leaving at least 100 homes in both Sergeant Kollie Town (SKT) and Thomas’ Farm without roofs.
This disaster occurred on Friday evening, around 8 to 9 PM, and has left many families homeless and in distress.Residents reported that the storm came from the north and struck suddenly, causing significant damage.
The violent winds tore roofs off homes, and many families have been completely displaced as a result. Local citizens shared their experiences with DN-News reporter, describing the chaos and destruction.”We don’t know where to go with our children or what to do. Our houses are completely de-roofed,” said one affected victim.

The emotional toll of the disaster is evident, as families struggle to find shelter and support in the aftermath.Since that night, many families have sought refuge with neighbors, hoping to find a safe place to stay.
“We have been asking some of our close neighbors if we can stay with them,” another resident explained. The community is coming together, but the need for more substantial help is urgent.
The storm’s impact extends beyond homes; the only public school in Sergeant Kollie Town was also damaged. This raises concerns about how children will continue their education amid the damage the storm has caused.

Parents are worried about the future of their children’s schooling in such difficult circumstances. The affected residents are now calling on the Central Government and the Disaster Management Committee for immediate assistance.
They are asking for help to obtain building materials so they can start repairing their homes. “We need support to recondition our houses,” they pleaded.
In addition to government support, the citizens are reaching out to humanitarian organizations and local authorities for aid. They want to ensure that their community receives the help it needs to recover from this disaster.
The residents of both Sergeant Kollie Town and Thomas’ Farm are also appealing to their district lawmaker, Engine J.M. Kollie, to stand with them during this challenging time.
They hope for a swift response from their leaders and the wider community. Our DN-News reporter visited the scene of the disaster on Saturday, January 25, and witnessed the confusion and despair among the community members.
The need for assistance is critical, and the voices of the affected families are calling for action
