Paynesville, Liberia — The Soltiamon Christian School System, a leading faith based institution in Monrovia, has graduated 69 students at its 21st Graduation Ceremony, celebrating a graduating class that successfully passed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The ceremony was held Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Paynesville City Hall outside Monrovia, bringing together graduates, parents, guardians, teachers, school administrators, and invited guests.
The graduation marked another milestone for the institution, which has maintained consistent academic performance in the WASSCE, with all 69 members of the graduating class successfully passing the examination. The school’s sustained performance in the regional examination has contributed to its reputation as a high school in Monrovia committed to academic excellence and student development.
The ceremony featured remarks, recitations, presentations, and other academic activities through which the graduates showcased their knowledge, confidence, and abilities.
Former Solicitor General of Liberia, Cllr. Augustine Fayiah, delivered the motivational remarks and commended the students for their brilliant performances during the closing program. Augustine Fayiah: “You have demonstrated that you are brilliant through your remarks, recitations, presentations, and the way you carried yourselves throughout this program. As you move forward, maintain the discipline, confidence, and commitment you have shown here, and continue to work hard toward your goals.”
Solomon Joah, proprietor of the Soltiamon Christian School System, also encouraged the graduates to remain focused and make good use of the knowledge and values acquired during their years at the institution. Joah urged them to continue pursuing education, remain disciplined, and become responsible citizens capable of making meaningful contributions to their families and communities.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Tiangay Saba Koon Joah, an educator and proprietress of the school, announced plans to take legal action against the Government of Liberia over the Ministry of Education’s ban on corporal punishment and aspects of the revised national curriculum.
Mrs. Koon Joah argued that the changes could undermine discipline and moral education, particularly in faith-based schools. She also called on parents, school operators, and members of the public to support the planned legal action.
As guest speaker, Louise Clarke Cheah, an experienced public servant, challenged the graduates to look beyond high school and continue investing in their education and personal development. Cheah urged the graduates not to consider high school graduation the end of their educational journey, encouraging them to pursue further studies and acquire new skills that can prepare them for employment and other opportunities.
“Graduation from high school is not the end of your education. Continue your studies, learn new skills, and consider vocational and other forms of tertiary education. The knowledge you have gained here should be combined with practical skills that can prepare you for opportunities and help you build a successful future,” she noted.
Looking ahead, the Soltiamon Christian School System renewed its commitment to providing contemporary and quality education, announcing plans to further modernize its academic programs and learning environment for the upcoming academic year.
The planned modernization is expected to strengthen the school’s educational offerings and expose students to relevant knowledge, skills, and learning approaches suited to contemporary educational demands.
The ceremony also recognized the contributions of parents, guardians, teachers, and school administrators whose support and guidance helped the students reach the milestone.
