Capitol Hill, Monrovia: Montserrado County District 15 Representative and ranking member of the House of Representatives’ “Rule of Law” Caucus, Abu Bana Kamara, has dismissed speculations that some lawmakers, particularly from the opposition, are plotting to remove Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, describing the claims as false and misleading.‎

‎Rep. Kamara said the House of Representatives is presently focused on addressing critical national issues and conducting the legislative business of the Liberian people, not engaging in any scheme to unseat the Speaker.‎

‎According to him, Speaker Koon currently enjoys the confidence of the majority of lawmakers, a position he said members remain committed to upholding.‎

‎He further disclosed that he will not seek re-election at the end of his current term, noting that his future political efforts will be devoted to campaigning for the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) in support of the 2029 presidential bid of former President George Manneh Weah.‎‎

“I don’t have no interest in being a Representative after my second term in District 15,” Hon. Kamara said.‎

‎Rep. Kamara made the remarks Monday on the sidelines of the opening of the Third Session of the 55th Legislature.‎

‎Also weighing in, Bong County District Two Representative and the House Committee Chair on Rules, Orders and Administration, James Kolleh strongly praised Speaker Koon’s leadership, saying visible improvements have taken place at the Capitol since his ascendancy.‎

“Since Richard Koon became Speaker, even the grass in the Capitol Building yard is green,” Kolleh said, noting that the statement symbolizes effective and result-oriented leadership.‎

Rep. Kolleh told journalists that lawmakers on Capitol Hill have full confidence in Speaker Koon, citing the passage of key bills, ongoing institutional reforms, and broader plans aimed at national development.‎

He also dispelled rumors of any plan by lawmakers to remove the Speaker, stressing that the House remains united behind Koon’s leadership.
