Gbarnga: A newly established political movement in Liberia, the Movement for Democratic Alliance (MODA), has announced its entry into the country’s political landscape, pledging to promote transparency, accountability and greater public participation in governance.
The movement was introduced on March 5, 2026 during a public pronouncement on a community radio station in Gbarnga. Acting Chairman Lawrence Yallah described MODA as a “people-centred force for change” in Central Liberia.
In a statement, the group said it aims to strengthen democracy and build a more prosperous Liberia, noting that its formation comes at a “pivotal moment” as citizens raise concerns about governance, economic opportunities and limited public participation in decision-making.
MODA says it seeks to unite educators, youth groups, market women, farmers and informal workers under its motto: “Together We Decide, Together We Prosper.”
Yallah said the movement intends to ensure ordinary citizens play a stronger role in shaping national policies, emphasizing that democracy should go beyond elections to continuous civic engagement.
The movement has also outlined priorities focused on youth empowerment, women’s leadership and economic opportunity, including support for agriculture, small businesses, vocational training and infrastructure development. It also plans to advocate improvements in education, healthcare and social protection while expanding outreach across communities in Central Liberia and beyond.
