Monrovia, Liberia – Hon. Rustonlyn Suacoco Dennis, a former representative from Montserrado County and the political leader of the Prudential Movement, has concluded a year-end acquaintance gathering aimed at connecting with citizens and supporters.
The event highlighted her continued commitment to political engagement and community development.
Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Oil Company of Liberia, Hon. Dennis leverages her position to influence critical decisions in the oil sector, a cornerstone of the nation’s economy.
The gathering provided an opportunity for her to share experiences and aspirations with her constituents.
During her address, Hon. Dennis reflected on her political journey, acknowledging the challenges of establishing a new political institution.
She remarked, “It’s not okay to lose, but there’s nothing you can do about it when you lose.”
This statement resonated with many in attendance who have faced similar struggles, as she emphasized that losing does not define a person.
“Technically, I’ve never experienced loss in my life,” she added, showcasing her resilience and determination to continue serving her community despite past electoral outcomes.
She expressed gratitude to her supporters and even those who opposed her candidacy, saying, “Everything will work for a particular purpose,” a sentiment that reminded her audience that challenges often lead to growth and new opportunities.
Hon. Dennis also spoke about the complexities of Liberia’s political landscape, emphasizing that elections represent just one aspect of governance.
“In politics, we have all of these pillars, but sadly in Liberia, only one pillar most people use,” she explained.
Her vision for the Prudential Movement focuses on transforming Liberia. She recalled her 2017 campaign goal of liberating the country from “political darkness and economic stagnancy,” a message that continues to resonate with her supporters.
She further noted, “I did not only want food for my career in politics.” Her broader vision for the Prudential Movement is to establish it as a significant political institution in Liberia.
Addressing the need for experienced leadership in government, she remarked, “People become ministers or representatives without any experience, and it’s affecting the country.” This statement reinforced her belief in the importance of practical experience for effective governance.
Looking to the future, Hon. Dennis expressed her hope for the Prudential Movement to remain active and influential, ensuring its vision and principles endure beyond her leadership.
Reflecting on her 2017 electoral experience, she highlighted being the first representative candidate to concede, acknowledging her second-place finish with 10,240 votes.
“Power is inherent in the people, and the majority spoke on the day of the election,” she affirmed, demonstrating respect for the democratic process.
The gathering concluded with a hopeful message from Hon. Dennis, urging unity and collaboration to build a brighter future for Liberia.
Her leadership and vision for the Prudential Movement continue to inspire many, underscoring the importance of perseverance and collective effort in driving positive change in Liberia’s political landscape
