The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has officially inducted 15 young Liberians as research, laboratory and diagnostic scientists to serve at the National Reference Laboratory.
The newly inducted scientists, specializing in research, laboratory, and diagnostic science, come from diverse medical science backgrounds. The induction ceremony was held alongside the National Emergency Preparedness and Response Committee meeting at NPHIL’s headquarters in Congo Town.
Speaking at the event, NPHIL’s Director-General, Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan, highlighted the significance of recruiting these young professionals. He emphasized that Liberia has the capacity to manage public health emergencies and dispelled the notion that the country lacks qualified personnel.
Dr. Nyan revealed that many young Liberians have traveled abroad to study medical science in countries like China, India, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He noted that these professionals represent untapped potential for advancing the nation’s health sector.
The newly inducted scientists pledged to dedicate their skills to enhancing Liberia’s public health system, further strengthening the nation’s preparedness for emergencies.
