Reliable sources close to President Boakai have informed the Spoon Network that the Liberian leader has finally reached a decision regarding the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) after four months of deliberation.
According to these sources, President Boakai has opted to terminate the three suspended LDEA leaders. Those to be removed from their positions include Director General Abraham S. Kromah, Deputy Director General for Administration Gbawou Kowou, and Deputy Director General for Operations Hassan Fadiga.
President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr., suspended the three officials without pay on June 3, 2024, following an investigation into disorderly conduct and disturbances that occurred at the LDEA headquarters.
In the meantime, the President appointed Christopher Peters as the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the agency until the investigation was completed. Peters is a highly regarded security expert with strong recommendations.
However, sources have now informed the Spoon Network that Peters submitted his resignation as OIC of the LDEA on Thursday, October 9, 2024.
As for who will be appointed the new Director General of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, former Director General Anthony Souh is rumored to be a top contender for the role. Souh previously led the agency in 2012 during the administration of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
